The works are typical of a country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia with the blending of of Western, Eastern and Byzantine cultures. Kvesitadze's moving figural sculptural works are full of contradictions: they portray both birth and death, the organic and the mechanical, the cold rock and the warm body that has challenged our senses for centuries. Kvesitatdze's drawings and sculptures all explore this conundrum of the mechanics of our everyday life while at the same time possessing a sense of timelessness. The artist currently lives and works in Paris. She has exhibited internationally and exhibited on behalf of Georgia at 2007's Venice Biennale. The Holster Project website |
